    Ingham

    Ingham is located 110 kilometres north of Townsville and 220 kilometres south of Cairns. It is situated in the Herbert River Valley in Tropical North Queensland. Ingham is part of the Hinchinbrook Shire. The economy is rural based, with sugar cane farming being the dominant industry. Cane has been growing in around the 1870s.

    This industry employes many South Sea Islanders and Italian immigrants.

     

    You can also find employment through agriculture, fishing, forestry, retail, tourism and government sectors as well as the sugar industry.

    Some of the many attractions found in the area of Ingham are:

    • Outskirts of the Wet Tropics World Heritage listed rainforests of Tropical North Queensland.
    • Wallaman Falls - Austalia's highest sheer drop waterfall, - a drop of 302 metres.
    • North East of Ingham you will find Hinchinbrook Island.
    • Italian Festival in May - a feast of Italian wine, cuisine, music and culture

    • Plenty of areas to go crabbing or fishing
